Titian's pupil painted this half-length picture of Christ in the spirit of his great teacher. It shows powerful contrasts of light and dark and of colour, showing Christ in a red robe and green cloak. The flesh colour and fabric are executed in fine shading. This portrayal of Christ, with large, dreaming eyes, long, dark hair and regular features is influenced by Titian's portrayal of Jesus. The background is grey, Christ's head framed in short gold rays. The painting, although simple and condensed, conveys the immensity of Christ.
