Figure of a Chinese Boy with a Cabbage Leaf Hat
Meissen; model by J. J. Kändler; ca. 1740
The figure is in two parts: the body and a head which can be removed. To make the head stand firmly, it has a lead ball hanging on a wire attached to the inside of the neck. The figure of an animated, plump Chinese boy with one leg raised while dancing is one of many models J. J. Kändler made for the porcelain manufactory he joined in 1733.
