Renaissance and Mannerism
(16th-early 17th c.)
The High Renaissance in Italy lasted for about two decades and from it a new style began to emerge - Mannerism which reached its peak in the middle of the 16th c. and lasted until the beginning of the 17th c., in some places longer. The works in this room are from both the Renaissance and Mannerist periods as it developed outside Italy - in Central and Northern Europe, France and the Iberian peninsula.
