Goblet in Form of a Hunting Horn
England; 2nd half 14th c.
The large goblet completely follows the shape of a hunting horn except the mouthpiece in place of which is a twisted globe. Its middle part is covered in thin leather over a polygonal body and decorated with impressed groups of tiny vertical incisions. The funnel-shaped opening at the other end has a plaque with a coat-of-arms in the form of a shield with a squirrel carrying a nut shown in profile.
