The features and elongated casque suggest that this piece of art was produced in England. Together with the Head of a Queen and the Head of Christ, it may have been a part of a sculpture group that perhaps depicted Christ on the throne giving his blessing to a king and a queen - a typical medieval iconographic motif that interprets secular power as an expression of God's will.
