Aphrodite and Eros
Greece; Hellenism; 3rd-2nd c. BC
It is modelled on the famous kneeling Aphrodite by the Bithynian sculptor Doidalses, who worked for Nikomed, king of Bithynia in the mid-3rd c. BC. A similar representation is found on the Bithynian coins where the kneeling goddess, with the help of Eros, washes her feet in water.
Both statues are Hellenistic work and were once part of some object.
