The production of decorative jade objects in China has a long tradition dating from Neolithic cultures. Because of its hardness, shining surface and variations of colour it symbolizes fairness and immortality. It was attributed with magical powers and jade objects were used for prophecies. Pendants of this kind were worn on a belt, in hair or as a part of jewelry.
