European Glass
(19th c.)
Glassmakers of 19th c. Europe had all the experience of earlier centuries at their command but complemented them by their own approach and development. From the thirties of the century its was Bohemia that led the way producing glasses, bottles, dishes, plates in lazur and overlay, hyalith and lithyalin glass decorated by facet cutting and grinding. The glass-makers of Bohemia were inventive and imaginative and in this century were greatly under the influence of Biedermeier.
