This half-length portrait, first listed in the collection as the work of LargilliŹre, shows a middle-aged man. His elongated face is three-quarters turned while the body is in full right profile. The face is pale-red, the lips pressed tightly together, the nose emphasized and the dark eyes look straight at the viewer.
