Bottle with a Twisted Neck (Kuttrolf)
Germany; 16th/17th c.
The twisted neck of the bottle makes it possible to pour out drops of liquid slowly (it is believed that the name of the bottle is derived from the Latin word gutta = a drop). Such bottles were often made in German workshops in the 2nd half of the 16th and in the 17th c. An almost identical bottle of the same date can be found in the Cologne Kunstgewerbemuseum.
