The Skittish Horse

Artists were attracted to the horse motif throughout history. However, technically far more demanding sculptures of horses in rearing positions obtained their affirmation and became more frequently executed after the Baroque period, when they became the favourite subject matter enabling artists to place an emphasis on excitement and movement.
