Bust of a Gentleman
Conrad Meit? (Worms, between 1512-1550/1)

The bust is carved together with the base from a single piece of ivory. The date 1530 is engraved on the base which is encircled by a metal frame. The man is wearing a tunic and cloak with a Renaissance cap on his head. The face is realistic, the expression thoughtful and neutral, the head slightly inclined casting a shadow.
