Charles the Bold
Innsbruck; 16th c.
There is a monumental tomb of Maximilian I in the Innsbruck court church, built in the Renaissance tradition with late Gothic details. The emperor's bronze figure on a high marble sarcophagus is surrounded by 28 large-sized bronze statues of his ancestors. One of them fully corresponds to this statuette, although it was impossible to carve all the details on such a small figure.
