Bottle
Egypt; 9th/10th c.
The bottle is a typical example of Egyptian glassware of the reign of the Fatimids (9th-11th c.) influenced by a desire to reproduce the illusion of naturally formed crystal. The small, thick walls successfully met Fatimid demand for geometrical patterning to evoke the clear forms of rock crystal.
Most items of this kind were found in Fustat and we may suppose that this bottle came from there.
