Cloth Showing a Rabbit and Fish
Coptic; 5th-6th c.
It is typical of Hellenist-Roman art as taken over by the Copts who continued to produce embroidery of this kind until the 4th c. when scenes from Christianity became more common subjects.
This fragment came from the embroidery for a tunic. It is a square adornment (tabula) either from the shoulders or at knee height on the front or back of the tunic.
